A proper beach with a town view, close to the ferries

Agios Stefanos is the first real beach north of town: a sandy bay with sunbeds and tavernas, a view of cruise ships sliding into the port next door, and Delos on the horizon at sunset. It is popular with families staying in the hotels on the hill and with anyone who wants a swim within a few minutes of the ferry.

Because it faces north-west, it feels the Meltemi more than the southern beaches; on windy afternoons the water chops up. Mornings are reliably calm.

The hotels here trade on the view — Chora's skyline across the bay — and on being a quick sea-bus or taxi ride from everything.

Beach

Sandy, family-friendly, organised, with some wind exposure on summer afternoons.

Nights

Sunset drinks at the beach tavernas and hotel bars; town for late nights.

Getting around

Buses and sea buses via Tourlos to the Old Port in season. Walkable to the new port.
