Ferry-day convenience and town views without town noise
Tourlos is the new port, where the large ferries from Piraeus and Rafina, the fast boats to Santorini and the cruise ships all tie up. Most visitors see it only through a taxi window, but the hillside above it holds a cluster of hotels with sweeping views back across the water to Chora and its windmills — the classic Mykonos postcard, seen from the other side.
In season a sea bus shuttles between the new port and the Old Port in a few minutes, and a road bus does the same. The area itself is functional rather than charming: a small beach, a few tavernas, and the port infrastructure.
Choose it for an early ferry, a cruise-day base, or a quiet room with a view that town cannot offer.
Beach
A small, narrow beach beside the port; better for a quick dip than a day. Agios Stefanos, just north, is the proper beach.
Nights
Hotel bars with sunset views. Town is minutes away by sea bus or taxi.
Getting around
Sea buses and road buses to the Old Port in season. Taxis and hotel shuttles for the airport. Check which port your ferry or cruise ship uses — some smaller boats still use the Old Port.
