Before you go
Three things are worth booking before you arrive: your airport or port transfer, a Delos trip (the guided ones sell out in summer) and one sailing day. Everything else can be decided on the island.
Day 1 — Delos in the morning, Chora at sunset
Day 1
- Take an early boat from the Old Port to Delos and spend two or three hours on the site before the heat builds. A guide, or the site's own museum, makes the ruins legible.
- Back in town by early afternoon: lunch in the lanes, then a swim at Megali Ammos, the town beach, or a siesta.
- Walk to the windmills and Little Venice an hour before sunset, then dinner in Chora. Book a table if you want a sea view.
Day 2 — A day on the water
Day 2
- Choose one: a catamaran day to Rhenia's empty beaches with lunch on board, or a south-coast beach hop by sea taxi from Ornos or Platis Gialos.
- The catamaran is the easier day and the better one when the meltemi is blowing, because skippers choose sheltered coves. The sea-taxi day is cheaper and lets you pick your own beach clubs.
- Evening: a sunset dinner on the west coast — Agios Ioannis or Megali Ammos face Delos and the setting sun without the Little Venice crowds.
Day 3 — The other Mykonos
Day 3
- Rent a scooter or car, or join a half-day island tour, and head north: the Panagia Tourliani monastery in Ano Mera, then Fokos or Agios Sostis for a swim and a long taverna lunch.
- If the north wind is strong, flip it: Ano Mera in the morning and a sheltered south-coast beach — Elia or Kalafatis — in the afternoon.
- Last evening in Chora: shopping on Matogianni, a drink in Little Venice, and a table you booked on day one.
Adjusting the plan
- Cruise or one-night stop? Do Day 1 only. Delos plus Chora is the island's essential day.
- Here to party? Swap Day 3 for a Paradise or Super Paradise afternoon and a late night; sleep in on the last morning.
- Travelling with children? Base yourself in Ornos, replace the catamaran with a shorter family cruise, and keep Day 3 to Ano Mera and Kalafatis.
