The ceremony follows the morning liturgy and takes place at the Old Port. It lasts well under an hour and is free to watch from the quay. Expect a small, mostly local crowd, cold water and a very Greek mix of solemnity and cheering.
January is deep off-season on Mykonos. Most hotels, beach restaurants and bars are shut, and flights and ferries are limited, so this suits visitors already on the island or in the Cyclades for winter rather than a dedicated trip.
