The Myconian Collection runs a cluster of hotels on the slopes above Platis Gialos and Elia, and the Ambassador is one of its more refined properties: Relais & Châteaux membership, a Thalasso spa and a terrace restaurant looking straight down the bay.

Platis Gialos is the most practical beach base after Ornos — sandy, sheltered, with buses to town and sea taxis to every other southern beach — and the hotel puts you a short walk above it.
